Last week we talked about a video sharing service that’s, seemingly, sweeping the globe. TikTok is everywhere, even if you’re not directly viewing it. We only looked at one, narrow aspect of the service — the occasional challenge that can have harmful effects. Let’s look at that “other” video streaming service/search engine/social platform/time waster, YouTube. In particular, let’s take a look at an effective (maybe) use for the outlet, public service announcements (PSAs). I’m posting one with this prompt and want your considered feedback. It’s from a “Certified Young Person,” Paul Rudd. Simple prompt, but please give this some thought: What do you think of this video story? Is it helpful? Is it funny, useful, mean spirited, ridiculous, on point??? Clearly, it’s singling out an audience — a very particular group of people — does the approach work or does it sound like a lecture (albeit light hearted) from a Boomer? Please offer up your thoughts and remember, your post should be a 1–2 minute read.
